The day after Christmas! Threatening rain, but we thought, what’s a little rain? We packed a lunch and made it to Pacific Heights around 4. The light was already crashing, and soon it was raining in earnest. But we had on our Gortex shells and my equipment was reasonably water-safe.
Walking along Alta Plaza Park—where, as it happens, Catherine and I had our second date 27 years ago (she brought sandwiches from Palio’s)—I noticed a grand building peaking its head above the park, looking a little less than grand off in the distance, almost lonely. Later, another view of the park, with its lovely angled stairs up the hill (the park is known for its multi-level stairs), and a lone, hooded figure graciously lent the image a bit of mystery. My favorite image of the day. Who says there are no people in my photos?
It was now completely dark, and I was struggling a bit to keep the rain drops off my lenses, but I managed to make a few images of lavish Christmas lights on some fancy, Pacific Avenue homes before drying off and heading home.
